Along with the 625-foot waterfront Ferris wheel planned for Staten Island, New York Wheel CEO Rich Marin announced a much shorter amusement that he's got in the works. An exciting simulated... subway ride. What kind of sick, no-escapism thrill ride is this, Rich?
The announcement came on-site at the future location yesterday, and the AP reports "the thrill ride will simulate a ride in a subway car on an adventure through a fictional tunnel beneath the harbor." It's called Time Train, and it's unclear how it will be different from riding an actual subway train. It will, however, be in 4-D.
Groundbreaking for the site will happen next year, and the Ferris wheel is scheduled to open in 2017—Marin says a webcam will be set up at a nearby lighthouse to show progress.
