Is this inspiring anyone else to install a DVD drive into their apartment wall?

Tomorrow the Museum of the Moving Image is opening their latest installation, DVD Dead Drop. The simple, almost invisible piece consists of a slot-loading DVD burner in a brick wall on the outside of the museum, which will be available 24/7. If you track it down, load in a blank DVD-R and it will burn a digital art exhibit onto it for you. It's almost like the Blockbuster of the art world!

The opening reception is from 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow night, and the first artist delivering work to your blank DVD-R is Aram Bartholl, who created the idea for his series of offline file-sharing networks in public spaces. On September 15th the content will change, and it will change each month after that.

Personally, we'd love to see a return of dead drops all over the city.
