Continuing its rapid transformation from grungy warehouse district to pampered baby haven, Gowanus is getting a swanky new boutique hotel, to be located on 3rd Avenue and President Street, DNAinfo reports. The five story, 99 room inn will be the latest addition to what developer Rajesh Bhagia refers to as a "hotel block," citing the Holiday Inn Express and the Super 8 Hotel located nearby.

Bhagia is also the mastermind behind Sunset Park's Hotel BPM, a DJ-themed hotel that apparently pipes soothing club music straight into your nerve synapses all day and all night. Reached by phone, Bhagia said the new space doesn't have a theme—yet. "We'll come up with something in the next two months," he assured us. He expects to break ground on the spot in September.

Meanwhile, restauranteur Matt Abramcyk is also hopping aboard the fancy hotel train, with plans for a dainty 82-room space to be built on Union Street between 3rd and 4th avenues. With rental prices skyrocketing the way they are, there's something to be said for quietly trying to camp out in the lobby.
