The TydeGothamist's good friend Jon knows us well: He suggested we check out The Tyde, a California based band whose second album, Twice (and yes, their first album was called Once), was just released last month, and we're in love with the beautiful jangly pop. Mojo calls Twice "a lovely record of enormous warmth, balancing pop swing and measured savagery, lit by the late afternoon sun." Yes, in other words, perfect music for the summer.

Jen is particularly fond of these lyrics (at least she thinks these are the lyrics) in "Go Ask Yer Dad": You don't rate me/But I won't hate you / I'll just remember how I used to make you laugh/ I can remember how I used to make you laugh

Buy Twice at Amazon. Critics says they sound like The Byrds, and that's okay by us.
