Did you read that New York Times piece about M.I.A. penned by contributor Lynn Hirschberg? Well, M.I.A. read it, and she's pretty pissed off. As such, she took to Twitter a few hours ago and posted a phone number, adding; "CALL ME IF YOU WANNA TALK TO ME ABOUT THE N Y T TRUTH ISSUE, ill b taking calls all day bitches." Thing is, she posted Hirschberg's cell number.

What's Maya so mad about? Here are just 10 things she must hate about Hirschberg, whose piece essentially calls B.S. on the performer's political reactionary thing. In the profile, Diplo (who works production magic on her tracks, and is also an ex-boyfriend) makes note of what he calls her "terrorism gimmick," and says: "[Maya] can’t really make music or art that well... She knows how to manipulate, how to withhold, how to get what she wants.” Kind of a blow to the ego when the performer just called Lady Gaga out for being nothing but a mimic.

It may be for printed remarks like that, that Maya has also Twittered to the world, "NEWS IS AN OPINION! UNEDITED VERSION OF THE INTERVIEW WILL BE ON neetrecordings THIS MEMORIAL WEEKEND!" Hirschberg has told The Observer that she won't be changing her number, and that "It's a fairly unethical thing to do, but I don't think it's surprising. She's a provocateur, and provocateurs want to be provocative." So who's calling? "The messages have mostly been from people trying to hook up with M.I.A. If she wants to get together with John at Bard next week, I have his number."
