Everyone is waiting for Beyonce with the good dress to stun at this year's Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume gala, but so far, the liveliest moment has been seeing Lady Gaga in a pantsless Versace outfit with towering platform heels. Update: Bey has arrived in what appears to be a nude/beige-colored latex embellished with pearlescent beads. Also, Madonna arrived in ass-less Givenchy and Kanye West wore blue contacts.

The invite-only gala raises money for the museum's Costume Institute, and this year's exhibit is Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology. Of course, it's also known as the night where Rihanna's 55-pound cape becomes a meme or where Solange Knowles beats up Jay-Z at an after-party.

Taylor Swift and Idris Elba are the celebrity co-chairs for the gala, while Vogue editor Anna Wintour is the chairwoman and Jonathan Ive, chief design officer of Apple, is the chairman; Apple is the main sponsor of the evening. Honorary chairs are fashion designers Karl Lagerfeld, Miuccia Prada; and Nicolas Ghesquière of Louis Vuitton.

For some attendees, the theme meant having metallic touches (see Kanye; Julie Macklowe) or intricate cut-outs (see Kendall Jenner). For others, there were more whimsical touches, like Claire Danes' princess-y Zac Posen gown that lit up:
