Madonna would NEVER... oh, nevermind. (Photo of M.I.A. via the AP)

Finally, finally, Madonna has spoken out about M.I.A. flipping off the cameras for less than one second during the Super Bowl Halftime show. Specifically, during HER MADJESTY's Super Bowl Half Time Show. No one would have ever even noticed the finger-flip if it weren't for close scrutiny of photographs after it aired, but the gesture led to a parents watchdog group lashing out on M.I.A. Anyway, back to present day: in an interview with Ryan Seacrest, Madonna's first interview since the incident, she said:

“I was really surprised. I didn’t know anything about it. I wasn’t happy about it. I understand it’s punk rock and everything, but to me there was such a feeling of love and good energy and positivity. It seemed negative. It’s such a teenager, irrelevant thing to do. What was the point? It was just out of place.”

When Madonna's flipped off an audience in the past, there has always been a point. Anyway, Old Lady Madge later went on to tell Carson Daly that M.I.A. had apologized to her multiple times. She added, "I know she feels bad... I accept her apology, but you know, I think she still has her head in the sand right now."
