The holiday shopping rush is over, but decorations are still up, which makes this the perfect time to catch the extravagant window displays at Manhattan's big department stores. And there's something for everyone, especially those in need of a little escape.
In the mood for adorable woodland animals? Head to Lord & Taylor, where raccoons, bears, mice and geese are frolicking in an "Enchanted Forest." Craving more of a classic Christmas scene? Santa and the gang are in the windows at Macy's. Bergdorf Goodman and Saks Fifth Avenue are all about fantasy land—the former has an intricate jungle forest tableau, and the latter will bring you the Nutcracker, the Sugar Plum Fairy, and elaborate candy lights. Meanwhile, Bloomingdales has a dazzling light installation, as well as chandeliers that are being auctioned off for charity.
And over at Barneys, they're all about the Love Peace Joy Project. Their windows feature creations from Nick Cave, South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker, and Studio Job.
See them now before they disappear early in the new year.
