The preliminary competition of the 2011 Miss New York Pageant took place at the St. George Theatre on Friday, and we were sent photos from the preliminary swimsuit, talent and eveningwear awards! Well, one photo... but there will be lots more where that came from (Staten Island!) after tommorow's final round, also in the borough. Here's the breakdown from last night's event:
- The Preliminary Swimsuit awards were presented to Miss Southern New York Kaitlin Monte and Miss Metropolitan Tara Szczepanski.
- The Preliminary Talent competition was won by Miss New York City Hannah Wright and Miss Southeast New York Amanda Mason.
- The Preliminary Eveningwear awards were garnered by Miss Manhattan Mallory Hagan and Miss New York City Hanna Wright.
Wait, what's the difference between Miss Manhattan and Miss New York City? Anyway, this is the first time in history that the Miss New York pageant is being held in New York City. Last we checked in on the festivities was back in 2008, when Miss Brooklyn was actually from Manhattan, where she had just moved to from down south—she didn't take home the tiara at the big game. Whatever, Miss Twin Peaks is the only pageant worth winning.
Allegedly this is all for the Miss America pageant, not the Miss USA pageant—which is taking place tomorrow. At that pageant, Amber Collins (originally from Texas!) will be repping NYC (follow her on Twitter!).
