The NYPD has gradually relaxed its draconian marijuana enforcement tactics, so maybe you'll be okay discreetly doing a J at Governors Island while you enjoy some open-mic poetry and acoustic guitar-strumming, for this is what People Who Smoke Weed In A Group do, right?

The Cannabis and Hemp Association (yes) is inviting all likeminded individuals to its Second Annual Picnic and Poetry in the Park this Sunday. Cock your beret, thump your djembe, embody none or all of pop culture's pot-smoking stereotypes! From the CHA:

On Sunday, May 24, 2015, from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm, the CHA invites New York City’s blossoming cannabis and hemp community to a picnic featuring an open mic for discussion and poetry readings about this transformational herb. Get together with other like-minded community and industry advocates for a good old-fashioned picnic and BBQ with a dash of self-expression. Pack up your picnic hamper or bring a dish to share with the group. Food and beverages will also be available for purchase. Musical instruments (acoustic) are welcome at this fun and free-flowing event!

Admission is free, or, if you're really planning on pigging out on the communal food, bring 10 bucks to kick in. Sharing is caring, war is over if you want it, be the change you want to see in the world. Or just lay in the grass and smoke some dope, man. Party on!
