2005_07_lilkim.jpgLil' Kim, everyone's new favorite Marc Jacobs fashion plate, was sentenced to a year and a day in prison, plus a $50,000 for "for lying to a federal grand jury to protect friends involved in a 2001 shootout outside a Manhattan radio station." A year and a day - that's clearly a judge who wants to make a point. According to the AP, the judge also "considered the public perception of sending a young, African-American entertainer to prison for far longer than Martha Stewart." Yes, the judge considered it then probably thought, "Eh, she's younger than Martha and would probably be able to face the others in prison down." Lil' Kim had told the judge, "I ask you to consider my entire life's work and not just the days in the grand jury and on the witness stand in the courtroom. I'm a God-fearing, good person." Note that she didn't say anything about considering her wardrobe makeover. Anyway, Gothamist can't believe that Lil' Kim is going to prison when someone like Richard Scrushy, the HealthSouth CEO who was accused of billions of dollars in fraud, is acquitted. We expect MTV or Bravo to race to Lil' Kim a reality show proposal.
