Today is Wednesday. And once again, as he does every day, Governor Andrew Cuomo will give a COVID-19 press briefing, where he'll likely begin by reminding viewers of this fact.
Cuomo has become a familiar voice in the New York household (and beyond) as the coronavirus pandemic has swept across the U.S., with New York still its epicenter. Cuomo's briefings are anchored by facts, science, data, and razzing his brother, Chris Cuomo. Or invoking his late father, Governor Mario Cuomo. Or embarrassing his daughters, Mariah, Michaela, and Cara. Or bringing us back to his childhood suppers, where his mom Matilda would serve up lasagna. He'll quote Churchill and FDR and the fictional A.J. Parkinson. He'll issue stern words to President Donald Trump, he'll praise Dr. Anthony Fauci, he'll remind us he's a Queens boy, and he'll allude to his single status.
If it's Saturday, maybe he'll wear a polo shirt, or roll up in his vintage GTO with a Dunkin' Donuts coffee in the cup holder.
It's been two months and 239 years of this, and counting, so we all know the drill. With that in mind, we made a new bingo card.
