This week WNYC spoke with Park Sloper John Hodgman about Bill de Blasio's departure from the neighborhood (the Mayor-elect and his family will be moving to Gracie Mansion). Hodgman told them while he has no plans to ever run for Mayor of this city, “I'll take Brooklyn Borough President any day 'cause I like titles that are merely titular.”

While Marty Markowitz's shoes will be filled by Eric Adams next month, there is a little something else open in the nominal subset of city government, and it comes with even less authority: Ambassador for NYC, a job that Markowitz's name has been batted around for.

At the very least, we should be able to make Hodgman Ambassador of Brooklyn, or of South Brooklyn, or of Park Slope, or of the 9th Street Y.
