We don't know exactly what it is about this simple video showing two musicians playing Frank Loesser's "Slow Boat to China" on the G train platform at Metropolitan Ave, but it's really working for us. If you're just starting your Saturday, or contemplating a lazy midday nap, just press play and let these amiable vibes and dulcet whistling take you away. We love these guys.

"I've been living in NYC for nearly a decade and these are two of the best buskers I've ever seen," writes Benjamin Lamson, who uploaded the video to YouTube yesterday. "Not only is this guy's voice butter but they're both amazing whistlers!"

Update: The musicians have been identified! The whistling bassist is Damon Hankoff; the whistling guitarist and singer is Vilray, who tells us he performs regularly at the bar below Rye restaurant in Williamsburg (nice place; Gothamist had a holiday party there a couple of years ago). You can catch Vilray at Rye on the last Tuesday of every month; his next gig there is April 26th at 9pm.

For more Slow Boat, here's Miss Piggy singing it to Sir Roger Moore on The Muppet Show. Not quite as buttery...

Okay one more for the road: Peggy Lee & Bing Crosby.
