Yesterday, it was the moment New York fans had hoped for: LeBron James in in New York City. Except James was only in the Big Apple for the wedding of his friend, Denver Nuggets star Carmelo Anthony, to former MTV personality LaLa Vazquez. The NY Post's headline, "Welcome to NY, Jackass," while the Daily News went with the milder, "LeBronx Cheer."
The wedding was held at Cipriani 42, right down the street from Grand Central Terminal, and guests included basketball players Amare Stoudemire (the Knicks' newest player), Kenyon Martin, Chris Paul, and Lamar Odom, Wimbledon champ Serena Williams, and celebrities from music, film, radio, and reality TV— Justin Timberlake, Kim Kardashian, Kelly Rowland, Ciara, Fabolous, Ludacris, Angie Martinez and Spike Lee. Lee, rabid Knicks fan and Google enthusiast, was thinking about 2011, "We want Carmelo to come to New York."
Vazquez was wearing a Vera Wang gown. She and Anthony have been engaged for five years; they have a three-year-old son, who was the ring-bearer.
