Alec Baldwin made his second appearance as President Donald Trump for Saturday Night Live's 43rd season, spoofing the Commander-in-Chief's appearance in "Harass-burg" during the cold open. Referring to Secretary of State Rex Tillerson's alleged comment calling Trump a "moron," Baldwin's Trump said, "What a dumb dumb dumb-aroonie. Talk about the pot calling the kettle Mexican. I have a huge IQ. I took an IQ test and it came back positive, very positive."
The cold open covered Puerto Rico, Michelle Obama's White House Garden, Eminem's rap ("Very soon I’m going to release a response rap on the White Entertainment Network, HGTV") and how Mike Pence will not stay at any event with the least bit of controversy.
The cold open lacked the bite (both literal and figurative) that a digital short featuring Kate McKinnon as Kellyanne Conway and Alex Moffat as Anderson Cooper. The bit was a version of It, with Conway appearing as "Kellywise the dancing clown" in a gutter, trying to lure Cooper in. When asked, "What did you do to your make-up?" Kellywise responds, "I toned it down."
Kellywise is desperate for blood, pleading for Cooper to put her on TV, and demonstrating the casual ease of being able to spin without any emotion: "Don't go! I'll give you a quote, a crazy quote. How about this? 'Okay, so Puerto Rico was actually worse before Hurricane Maria and the hurricane actually did blow some things back together, and I don't know why Elizabeth Warren didn't Tweet about it.'"
And Rachel Maddow and Hillary Clinton were also in the sewer, "where the doodies are."
By the way, Baldwin is prepping the new Trump impersonator:
In Saturday night! Tune in @nbcsnl #RafaelThomas @iamabfalecbaldwin
