This afternoon, hundreds of kids dressed in colorful costumes started dancing down Kingston Avenue in Crown Heights as part of the Junior Carnival, a precursor to Monday's 43rd Annual West Indian American Day Carnival. Organizers say the Junior Carnival is a way to keep the West Indian traditions alive for the next generation. One parent told NY1, "It's a West Indian thing. It's what we do to celebrate and this is our representation." If you have any photos of the event, email them to photos[at]gothamist[dot]com, or tag them "gothamist" on Flickr.
