From June 25th through September 12th, artist Jeff Koons's "Split-Rocker" sculpture will be planted over at Rockefeller Center. The topiary-inspired form "towers over 37 feet high and features over 50,000 flowering plants." The inspiration for the piece came "when Koons decided to split and combine two similar but different toy rockers, a pony belonging to his son and a dinosaur."
The outdoor public art piece will coincide with the opening of Koons's retrospective at the Whitney (running through October 19th)... where you'll find another "Split-Rocker," made of aluminum. Want one for home? There's a vase for purchase... for $5,000.
