A few questions for you.
How did you get so crafty? Is it hereditary?
Well, my grandmother was the personal chef to Igor Stravinsky and Aldous Huxley and I definitely inhereted her love of food. My mother is pretty crafty as well. She just took up knitting again, has her own garden and is obsessed with Martha Stewart.

How you think the DIY trend (crafts, home improvement) has influenced current pop culture?
In terms of fashion, you see a lot more handmade knits and clothes with embelshed touches than we’ve seen before. And hip crafters were into vintage and thrift shopping long before marc jacobs began to mine this look. Now there are all sorts of cool magazines and TV shows aimed at what I like to call "Generation DIY", like "Ready Made", "Craft Corner Deathmatch" and "Knitty Gritty".

Tell us about how much fun it is to judge the TV show "Craft Corner Death Match".
I loved being a judge on CCDM. It’s such a fun, but very challenging show. I sometimes feel sorry for the contestants because it’s damn hard to craft in under ten minutes!

On my best mornings, all three.

You've been asked to host a party and the only requirement is that you must invite three New York celebrities (alive), who would you extend an invite to?
Bill Clinton, not because I like his politics so much (although they are certainly better than Bush’s) but because I think he is a fascinating creature. Joan Didion because she is my favorite writer. And Mario Batali, because he seems to enjoy life.
