According to the NY Times, NBC execs are readying to cut Ann Curry loose from her Today show post. Curry currently co-hosts the morning program with Matt Lauer, a position she moved in to just last year. Since this is still in the rumormongering stages, we'll keep this short—the report notes:
"The planning—which is taking place in secret and has not been finalized—is effectively an admission that all is not well... Several weeks ago, network officials and Ms. Curry began to discuss a different job for her, according to people with knowledge of the negotiations. Those discussions have continued and are expected to be completed before late July. Ms. Curry, who has not had a television agent for years, has hired a well-known attorney, Robert Barnett, to represent her in the negotiations."
Curry has been criticized for her co-hosting style and notable coldness—well, our sources tell us that Sue Simmons is sweet as pie, and available!
