It's been over 25 years since ass sphincter said what in the original Wayne's World, that tender ode to metalheads who hate "Stairway To Heaven." And while Mike Myers might be busy burying himself under heavy prosthetics and Dana Carvey is off honing his micro impressions, fans of the beloved film will have a chance to prove their worthiness at an immersive tribute event in Brooklyn this summer.
BBQ Films—who have previously hosted events in honor of Twin Peaks, Mean Girls, The Fast & The Furious, Ghostbusters, Beetlejuice and more—will be throwing a Garthapalooza at Music Hall of Williamsburg on Friday, July 13th. Aurora, Illinois’ most shredding club, Gasworks, will come to life for one-night only, filled with "music, comedy, and full-on ‘90s immersion." There will be an all-lady musical lineup of Cassandra and Crucial Taunt, as well as themed drinks and plenty of "Bohemian Rhapsody" headbanging. And who knows maybe Myers will be there in disguise!
The event takes place from 7 p.m. to midnight on July 13th; tickets cost $42 for general admission and $68 for VIP (which includes "a gift from Mr. Big himself"). A portion of ticket sales will be donated to Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls, a nonprofit music education and mentoring program that empowers girls, women and/or gender non-binary folks through arts and music.
Tickets are available starting June 1st here, though you can purchase pre-sale tickets now if you are an American Express cardholder or BBQ Films member, or if you have ever asked someone sincerely, "Did you ever find Bugs Bunny attractive when he put on a dress and play a girl bunny?" (That last bit might not be entirely true.)
