Today wasn't just a federal holiday and inauguration day for President Barack Obama. It was also Inauguration day for the first full-time country music station for NYC in nearly 17 years!

Yep, "America's Country Music Station," started broadcasting this morning at Nash 94.7 FM and we're sure somebody is very excited (unless they were moving to Texas). Just by population alone New York has a large country fan base. So what're they playing? The first song played on the station was "How Country Feels" by Randy Houser, which was followed by Alan Jackson's "She's Gone Country" and then songs by Brad Paisely, Brooks and Dunn, Carrie Underwood, Lady Antebellum, The Band Perry and my namesake Garth Brooks.

On the one hand? Yay for diversity on our airwaves. On the other hand? Do people still willingly listen to the real radio anymore? Does Z100 still mean "today's best music now give me my money?" Either way, you can listen to a live stream of the station right here.

Meanwhile, we can't help but link to this classic early-Internet country music meme: The Best of the Worst Country-Western Song Titles.
