If you didn't know there was a National Homeless Soccer Team then you know now. NY1 reports that they're heading to the Homeless World Cup in Milan, but before making the trip are practicing on the Lower East Side. The co-ed team is made up of eight players, two hailing from NYC. Founder Lawrence Chann told the network, "I always underestimated the value of traveling and getting out, but you know it's really about raising the expectations of themselves and getting a different view of life and what's possible." One player, Ebony Wright, says, "My short-term goal mainly is to find an apartment because I'm so tired of sleeping outside and not knowing where I'll be able to put my stuff."
