The web phenomenon High Maintenance made the leap to HBO last fall with flying colors, offering a wide-ranging portrait of NYC, as if you set up a camera in your own cramped apartment then passed it to your neighbor. Filming is currently underway on season two, which will likely premiere in the fall, and now is your chance to appear in the background of the new season—if you're willing to get dressed up in your glammiest outfit.
If you recall, in last season's fourth episode "Tick," The Guy delivers to Jim, a retired, former workaholic who was living with his daughter and exploring his inner Burning Man. In that episode, there were at least two scenes set at a morning rave that he frequented. Similarly, HM will be filming a scene at the House of YES in Brooklyn on Tuesday, May 16th, and they're looking for people to attend the party in full Dionysian regalia. They write:
We're teaming up with HBO's High Maintenance for a dance party fit for the gods! They will be filming a scene for their upcoming HBO season and they want to feature YOU in your most spectacular looks.
Delicious disco, dionysian drink specials, free pizza, and glitter galore will be provided to help you werk the room in all your heavenly glory.
We invite you to dress in GOLD, SILVER, glitz, glam, and spectacular looks worthy of a god or goddess. Let's fill the room with a constellation of deities, exotic creatures from all reaches of space, and mystics from across time. Shine your brightness, show off your shining glory, reflect the brilliance of the dancefloor!
Doors are at 9 p.m. and filming starts at 10 p.m. (there will be free pizza during the first hourl). You can get more info here, get costume inspiration here, and register for the event here. Keep in mind that if you go, you consent to be photographed, turned into a GIF, be filmed and/or otherwise recorded at the event (you also have to be over 21).
Creators Katja Blichfeld & Ben Sinclair may have set a high bar for themselves with the previous installments, but as you can tell from the photos below, they're eager and ready to leap over it this year.
