What does Times Square look like after the masses clear out from one of the biggest New Year's Eve parties on earth? Photographer Gretchen Robinette stopped by Times Square just before sunrise on January 1st to check out the aftermath near where the ball dropped just hours before. She was out there from 6:15 to 7:30 a.m., a time when the sun was about to replace the darkness, and cleaning crews had taken over the spots of revelers, who were already at home sleeping it off.
While a few stragglers remained, the area was mostly filled with fallen confetti. Click through for a look, and here's what the area typically looks like around that time.
