Tonight is the start of Chanukah, the Jewish festival of lights. While it's not the most holy of the Jewish holidays, it's hard not to hear about it. Especially since they play Adam Sandler's song over and over on the radio. That song, along with the dreidel song embeds Chanukah in Gothamist's head right up until Christmas songs start. During the holiday, fried foods are traditionally consumed because oil plays an important role in the holiday (hello latkes!). After all, it's not every day that one day of oil lasts for eight days.

Judaism 101, and a virtual menorah since Gothamist has issues with wax and fire. Now...where's our aluminum pole?
