Not only do we celebrate the birth of our nation today, we celebrate the birth of Pulitzer Prize winning political cartoonist and awesome machine creator, Reuben Lucius Goldberg. Born in 1883, he is known for creating Rube Goldberg machines, which were actually part of his cartoons. They depicted "complex devices that perform simple tasks in indirect, convoluted ways."
