While we may be fully aware of the horrific crimes, accidents, and other unseemly things that have happened in our fair city in the past, recently photographer Marc Hermann has brought some striking crime scene photos (like those from that Park Slope plane crash) into the present day.

Click through for a look at old images from crime scenes (from Daily News' archives)—some of which are graphic— superimposed with photos from the same location today. And then try not to think too much about all of the ghosts that are lurking around us at all times.

Hermann tells us, "As the NY Press Photographers hits its centennial, I'll definitely be doing more." What other scenes from the city's past should be brought back to life in the modern day? And can someone do this with Weegee's archive?
