    Gothamist Spring Guide: 20 Fun Things To Do In April

    March was a great month if you enjoy eating eyeballs, Egg McMuffins and Easter candy. Likewise if you enjoy stories about etiquette. We didn't get marijuana decriminalized but we did get Tilda in a box! And although spring may have "officially" begun in March, the month brought us nothing but snowy weather and a frustrated lust for ramps. We're counting on you, April!

    GIFs have been internet awesome for a few years now, and in April they'll become legit awesome IRL on the streets: BAM is presenting an installation called Moving the Still exploring GIFs as a new art form. Already established as a media ripe with possibilities on Tumblr and Gothamist, a selection representing the breadth of the medium was chosen by online auction house Paddle8 from over 3,500 requested submissions and will be exhibited on BAM's digital signboard on Flatbush Avenue for three months beginning April 1st.     Kelly Oxford's legion of Twitter followers can't get enough of her quips about parenthood—"Got angry at 4 year old for not getting ready for bed, and she said, "This is why you don't have kids."—and the world in general—"Need a montage of hypochondriacs discovering their astrological sign is Cancer." Oxford published her first book this year, entitled Everything Is Perfect When You’re a Liar, and she'll be at the Housing Works Bookstore this month for a conversation about it.     Danny Boyle's 1994 thriller Shallow Grave follows three young friends after the discover their friend's dead body after a drug overdose and also a suitcase filled with cash. The film was Boyle's feature film debut and also stars a baby-faced Ewan McGregor in his first big screen film role. Now three Oscar nominations—and one wacky Olympics opening ceremony—later, Boyle is sitting down with the Academy to screen the film and discuss his debut, which has since attained cult classic status.
