Gothamist is expanding its editorial team: we're currently hiring a videographer to work at our headquarters in DUMBO, Brooklyn. This is a full time position, with competitive salary and benefits.

This person will produce, shoot, and edit video shorts for us. These videos will be about the full spectrum of compelling subjects we cover here: news, arts and events, food, etc. Some will be funny and some will be serious. The ideal candidate will be self-directed, capable of fast turnaround (1-3 clips per week), understand the Gothamist voice, and truly love creating original stories. We want someone who is bursting with ideas and who loves New York.

What about "virality"? We want videos that will be widely watched and shared, but not at the expense of intelligence or voice. Understanding this subtle point is critical.

Details: please send a short summary of your qualifications with relevant links to clips to jobs@gothamist.com with the subject "Gothamist Videographer." (NO attachments please.)

[Note: Short, amusing or moving documentary clips are greatly preferred. Please don't send compilation reels, commercial clips, music videos, 90 minute features, etc. We're looking for a few good clips (or links to clips) that demonstrate you can work short on the web.]

About us: Gothamist is an independently-owned website about New York City and "everything that happens in it." It was informally launched in 2003 and steadily grew into the flagship website for a network of local blogs in cities such as San Francisco, LA, Chicago, and D.C.
