On top of inviting bands over to our office, or the lovely Florida Keys NYC studio (where we recently filmed The Hold Steady), we're starting a new series of videos for our Gothamist House collection which will be filmed in iconic, or abandoned, or hard to access areas and buildings in New York City. Our first shoot was yesterday, where we went with the whole iconic thing, and filmed at the New York Public Library's main branch on 5th Avenue.

The Walkmen (who are playing tomorrow on Governors Island) were kind enough to treat us, and the startled passerby, to a few songs. This is all currently being polished up by producer Daniel Grossman and director Adam Hall from their Brooklyn based production company Foglight Films, and we'll be posting it here sometime in the next week or so (for now, check out the above photos).

We're constantly on the lookout for more spaces to film in—think: that abandoned Burger King on Governors Island (if it weren't torn down), or the top floor of the abandoned palace at 5 Beekman Street, or the crown of the Statue of Liberty! Leave your suggestions in the comments (depending on each location we may be inviting a few readers), and stay tuned...
