Tonight there's a book release party for G.O.P. D.O.A. by Jay Brida. The book is described as a NYC-based thriller of murder, hypocrisy, and sexual heat set on the eve of the Republican National Convention. When a well-connected ‘escort’ is found murdered on the night before the opening ceremonies, RNC operatives must move fast to cover up a potentially politically fatal secret. A Brooklyn-based political fixer named Flanagan is hired to wade through the pasty white underbelly of the conservative movement and the dark recesses of NYC to find the killer, only to discover uncomfortable truths along the way....which reminds Gothamist of the future Law & Order episode that will undoubtedly be based on a similar events from this summer's convention. The launch party is from 8pm-1am ($10.00 general admission cover, ages 21+), and they will be having drinks like "Rumsfeld on the Rocks" and "Gindictment and Tonic" at Proda Studios, 25 Jay Street, DUMBO, Brooklyn (F Train to York Street). G.O.P. D.O.A. on Amazon.

Or, if you'd prefer your politics more silly (Frankenstein is chasing little Jack Edwards! Augh!) and less well-founded (but still bombastic and passionate) tonight, come meet with the Gothamist crew tonight at The Magician - drinks are on us. More info here.
