Amid a constantly growing movement to limit the barriers to entry of art institutions comes GO: a community-curated open studio project. During GO, happening this coming September 8th and 9th, registered public voters can participate in the curatorial process by visiting the creative spaces of any Brooklyn artist of any Brooklyn neighborhood and then nominating their favorites to be considered for an exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum. Voters will check in at willing registered studios with a special GO mobile application and once a visitor has seen five studios, they are allowed to nominate three. The ten artists with the most nominations will receive personal studio visits from Brooklyn Museum curators, at which point two or more artists will be chosen to have their work displayed as part of a group show. The final exhibition opens on the December 1st Target First Saturday and runs through February 23rd.
