The 2011-2012 theater season has officially wrapped with the Tony Awards on Sunday, so now it's time to start rumors about this coming season. And there's a big one: Al Pacino may star in a revival of Glengarry Glen Ross.

ArtsBeat reports that Pacino, who played Ricky Roma in the 1992 film adaptation of David Mamet's drama about salesmen, would play Shelly "The Machine" Levene: "A lead producer of the 'Glengarry” revival, Jeffrey Richards, declined to comment on Tuesday... The information about the 'Glengarry' revival came from two producers who spoke on condition of anonymity because the revival is not official, in part because negotiations with several actors are still under way." Shelly was recently portrayed by Alan Alda in the 2005 revival and by Jack Lemmon in the 1992 film.

Richards produced the 2010 revival of Merchant of Venice with Pacino and has produced many Mamet plays; two of his productions currently on Broadway are the Tony-nominated revival of Gore Vidal's The Best Man and the Tony-winning revival of Porgy and Bess.
