For the first time in NYC, all three of Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings films will be screened with live orchestral accompaniment. You'll recall that the first two films in the trilogy were screened in NYC with the full live symphonic treatment, but those performances happened independently of each other in 2009 and 2010, and without the precious third film. Now, at last, you'll have the opportunity to geek out on all three films on consecutive nights.
Some 250 musicians with the 21st Century Symphony Orchestra & Chorus will take the stage at Lincoln Center to perform the score live under a giant movie screen. Tickets for the performances, scheduled for April 2015, are on sale now, and start at $59 for each screening.
