Gothamist appreciates the stuff of museums and galleries, from high-class high art to wacky conceptual installations. But we have to admit we like it best when designers work their magic on common objects, making our daily tasks simpler and more interesting.
Through the end of the month, you can catch Corvettes to Cuisinarts: Six Decades of Diversity in Industrial Design at Pratt Institute's Manhattan Gallery. The exhibit features furniture, appliances, jewelry, toys and a wide range of other personal and household accessories designed by Pratt alumni.
The Pratt Manhattan Gallery (212-461-6000) is located at 144 West 14th Street. The showcase is scheduled to reemerge this autumn at the Schafler Gallery on Pratt's Brooklyn campus.
