Isn't there some new cooking-at-home, hipster foodie, artisinalista trend happening? Apparently it hasn't made it from the outer-boroughs to Manhattan, where Paper's Alexis Swerdloff reports for the NY Post on kitchenistas—or in other words, those city dwellers who turn their kitchens into closets.

Not a new trend by any means, but don't you want to peak into their oven shoe racks? 26-year-old Bari Musacchio, who lives in a studio apartment in NoLita, describes the scene: “I have one closet, and things were overflowing, so I started putting shoes in the fridge. And then I moved on to my cabinets, where I now store my seasonal clothes — sweaters in the summer, T-shirts in the winter.” And it's not just twenty-somethings finding no need to cook in their kitchens, 37-year-old Jen Salgado asks, “Oh my gosh, who doesn’t use their kitchen as a closet in New York?” Good question...
