As was well documented, this year's official Macy's fireworks display on the Hudson River was pretty disappointing for a lot of people. But not everyone just sat around and expected the fireworks to come to them—plenty of resourceful New Yorkers invoked their right to illegal fireworks and sparklers, and set forth to celebrate. After all, cops were way too busy last night to worry about any of those—well, they were probably paying attention to the family who set their house on fire in the last video.
