Despite homegrown global brands like Acer, Asus and HTC and an exciting startup culture bolstered by government support, Taiwan's booming tech industry still remains largely unknown to the average New Yorker—until now.

The annual Taiwan Excellence Product Showcase (September 22 - 25) is an exhibition that seeks to shine a light on some of the leading innovation companies in the "Silicon Valley of Asia." Held for the first time at the Time Warner Center, the event will unveil over 50 award-winning products—many of which will be making their exclusive U.S. debuts—from a range of different categories, including computers, smart accessories, alternative transportation and sustainability.

Some of the exhibition's more unique offerings include a device that can transform a smartphone into a portable microscope, a lightweight electric bicycle with the power of a motor scooter and a shampoo made from coffee oil extracted from recycled coffee grounds.

"In the past decade, Taiwan has emerged as a leading center of innovation on the world stage thanks to visionary companies dedicated to creating groundbreaking new products," said Cherng-Chuan Su, Director, Taiwan Trade Center in New York, one of the organizers of the event. "Our showcase provides a unique opportunity for New Yorkers to experience Taiwan's forward-thinking technology and research while also offering a glimpse into our culture and traditions."

Additionally, the event will also feature daily live performances, product demonstrations and chances to win great prizes throughout the day. Admission is free. For additional information, click here.
