The Third Annual FREE Summer Block Party Series
Wednesdays, July 27, August 3, August 10, and August 17 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

For the third summer, the Museum of the City of New York and El Museo del Barrio will turn the top of Museum Mile into a classic summer block party with Uptown Bounce: Summer Nights @ 104th and Fifth. Uptown Bounce is a joint series of free block parties featuring musical performances, NYC’s hottest DJs, gallery talks, art-making workshops, and dancing demos. Both Museums are proud to host an annual series like Uptown Bounce that makes the cultural richness of Museum Mile fun and accessible for New Yorkers of all ages and backgrounds.

Uptown Bounce takes place on both Museums’ front terraces overlooking Central Park on consecutive Wednesday nights (July 27, August 3, August 10, and August 17) from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Both museums, located next door to each other on Fifth Avenue at 104th Street, will offer free admission and extended hours. Uptown Bounce is a perfect opportunity to experience word class exhibitions like El Museo’s ANTONIO LOPEZ: Future Funk Fashion and Figure and Form: Recent Acquisitions to the Permanent Collection and the Museum’s Lost in Old New York, In the South Bronx of America: Photographs by Mel Rosenthal, and Roz Chast: Cartoon Memoirs, all while enjoying the vibrancy and energy of an East Harlem block party.

Visitors can also sample some of the most popular food trucks in the city, grab a drink, and hit the dance floor to jam to tunes from DJs like DJ Riobamba and Misebehaviour of Mobile Mondays! Each summer night offers a different musical vibe, ranging from a Prince tribute and a celebration of NYC’s greatest hits at the Museum to DJ Oscar Nñ spinning a blend of urban and virtual club sounds with latinx undertones at El Museo. Other activities include artmaking workshops, hula hooping, dance lessons, and textile weaving.
