Yesterday, it was announced that relatively unknown actress Rooney Mara had landed the role of moody, bisexual, revenge-seeking hacker Lisbeth Salander in David Fincher's adaptation of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. (She's also starring in Fincher's upcoming Facebook movie, The Social Network.) Mara happens to be descended from sports royalty: Her great-grandfathers are Giants founder Tim Mara and Steelers founder David Rooney.

Her father, Chris Mara, is the Giants VP of Player Evaluation; he and his wife said, "We are thrilled for Rooney's opportunity to play such an iconic character as Lisbeth Salander. It is very satisfying for her and us as parents when all the hard work finally pays off. That being said, there's a lot of responsibility that comes with such a big role, but we believe she has what it takes."
