Devil Wears Prada, the book-turned-movie, is about to turn to Broadway for a stage production. While there's no date set for a premiere, a creative team is being locked down, and Variety reports that Elton John and Paul Rudnick are both on board "to write the stage version of the 2006 Fox comedy." The NY Times calls the news "a significant step for the project" for Kevin McCollum, who is producing and has been working to move the musical forward for two years.
The movie was based on Lauren Weisberger's 2003 book of the same name, and follows aspiring writer Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway) into the high fashion world of Runway magazine, helmed by an Anna Wintour-type played perfectly by Meryl Streep.
Hopefully Andy's friends and boyfriend are slightly more supportive of her on stage, and please Mr. Elton John: an entire song about cerulean.
