Lena Dunham is known for being provocative, and on Thursday night she stayed on brand, declaring over Twitter: "I'm horny for baseball players! Wow!" What happened next may surprise, disgust, or not do anything at all for you. Anyway, it involves 54-year-old Mets alum Lenny Dykstra.

The evening started innocently enough—Dunham went to the Mets game against the Cincinnati Reds at Citi Field to see her boyfriend, musician Jack Antonoff, throw the first pitch. According to Dunham's Instagram Stories, Antonoff arranged for the Mets to give her a Mets jersey with her last name and the number 69, which she loved. Also David Wright, with his arm in a sling, appeared in her Stories, giving advice to Antonoff.

Just after 6 p.m., Dunham Tweeted:

This is when disgraced human being Dykstra replied, "DM me," and then followed up with a Garth Brooks song.

Dunham responded, "Okay now you're making me laugh. I'm gonna have to read your wiki. This whole exchange is a real trip!" His Wiki features entire sections dedicated to "incidents" and "conviction and sentencing."

Other Twitter users tried to educate her:

And then Dunham read up on Dykstra:

The Girls creator realized that "this day has gotten really fucking weird."

Dykstra tried again, tweeting, "You know deep down you want to take a ride on the space shuttle."

Dunham had enough by bedtime:

And by the way, Antonoff's pitch appeared to make it over the plate:

Good pitch, noodle ❤️
