Have you seen starlet-NYU student Dakota Fanning around Brooklyn on a bike? And have you seen a woman who looks like a taller sister of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen with her? Congratulations: You've seen the Very Good Girls in action.
Fanning and Elizabeth Olsen, last year's breakout star, have been filming the indie movie—written and directed by Naomi Foner, aka Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal's mom—in Brooklyn and Manhattan. Yesterday, they were just south of Prospect Park, on Crooke Avenue.
Anton Yelchin, Demi Moore, Richard Dreyfuss and Peter Sarsgaard also star (according to IMDB). Here's the film's plot, per Deadline: "Fanning and Olsen play lifelong best friends in the summer after their high school graduation, both determined to lose their virginity as a rite of passage into the adult world. When they fall in love with the same boy (Yelchin), their quest becomes much more complicated and emotionally dangerous than they ever imagined. They come out of the summer more women than girls, but in ways that they never imagined. "
Olsen said last year about the movie, "A lot of times with female relationships and young women [in the movies], it's either 'Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants' or catty b---. I just have a problem with that. They're supposed to be either as perfect as how they're portrayed on Disney or as mean as they're portrayed in high school movies. And in real life it's neither of those." Oh, and per the virginity plotline, "That happens in the movie, and that's fine for a log line, but that's not really what it's about." Um, good?
