We interrupt this irregularly scheduled Hurricane Sandy coverage to bring you a handful of adorable photographs from Saturday's Halloween costume contest in Williamsburg's McCarren Park. Organized by Dog-E-Dog, a local pet sitting and boarding company, the first annual contest attracted an impressive array of costumed canines. Top prize (disclosure: we were one of the judges!) went to a pair of Basset Hounds disguised as WWI "dogfighters," with additional prizes going to "bat dog" and a couple pups dressed as dice in a craps game (their master dressed as a stickman).

Click through for a glimpse of that blissful, innocent time when our subway system wasn't flooded and all New Yorkers had electricity! All proceeds from the accompanying raffle went to support the McCarren Dog Run, with prizes sponsored by Carmine's Original Pizza, Peter Pan Donut, Five Leaves, Tommy Guns, Lucky Dog, Waggo, Kate Spade, Jack Spade, Stella & Chewy's, Cup, Evermore pet food, Chibuzo, Adelina's, Greenpointers, Greenpoint Vet, Dapper Dog Co., Happy Dogs, PS9 Pets, and Walk This Way.
