The 2012 West Indian Day Parade took place today in Crown Heights, with millions of people celebrating Carribean culture with food, dancing, and loud music. No incidents of revelers bumping and grinding on police officers were spotted either—but we weren't everywhere...

The cool weather meant that there weren't as many people passing out from the vigorous dancing and heavy, elaborate costumes. Besides overall concerns about safety (last year, a man opened fired), the parade has been under scrutiny about how the police treat attendees, even when they are city officials. We'll have more about the parade later.
