New York City has been the setting and inspiration for countless classic movies, sometimes as much of a character as the actors on the screen. So what better place to celebrate the world’s most iconic filmmaking location than its most iconic park?

This summer, the Central Park Conservancy Film Festival will feature the following films in a celebration of filmmaking in the city:

Monday, Aug. 18:Big (PG)
Tuesday, Aug. 19:The Royal Tenenbaums (R)
Wednesday, Aug. 20:The Way We Were (PG)
Thursday, Aug. 21:Coming to America (R)
Friday, Aug. 22:Rear Window (PG)

Catch each film in the landscape north of Sheep Meadow, beside the cafe (mid-Park at 69th Street). All screenings begin at 8:00 pm, rain or shine, with gates open to the public at 6:30 pm. A DJ will perform from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. All movies will be closed captioned. Don't forget to bring a picnic! Find more information here.
