Last night was the star-studded, couture-clad Costume Institute Gala at the Met; the theme was "superheroes," to accompany the museum's latest Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy exhibit. J. Lo commented on her own superhero ensemble, saying, "the only thing I could think of was Wonder Woman with my cuffs."
Scarlett Johansson sort of showed off her rock, Beyonce paraded her independence -- coming without a wedding ring or Jay-Z, and Gisele Bündchen expressed her desire to "take that Wonder Woman costume down and wear it right now," adding that "it would probably be too revealing” (much like her own dress).
The superhero theme drew bold colors and elaborate attire in most, but some gowns were less than super; Blake Lively (aka Gossip Girl's Serena van der Woodsen) donned a dress dubbed "DOA" by the LA Times. Meanwhile, the NY Times described Vogue editrix, Anna WIntour's "silver-sequined, elaborately padded Chanel gown" as giving her the "appearance of Botticelli’s Venus on her clamshell."
