MJ in NYC, in the Hoyt-Schermerhorn station, and at MSG.

Today would have been Michael Jackson's 53rd birthday! The King of Pop died in 2009, and since then there has been an annual celebration in Brooklyn around the time of his birthday—but alas, his year's has been postponed (due to weather, of course) to a yet to be determined date. So while we wait, let's look back at some of our favorite MJ moments. Check out the videos below, and here's a look at MJ in NYC (also: never forget that time he went on a post-9/11 road trip with Marlon Brando and Liz Taylor).

"Bad": this video was directed by Martin Scorsese and filmed in the Hoyt-Schermerhorn station in Brooklyn!

"Billie Jean": performed at Madison Square Garden for his 30th Anniversary Special, filmed between September 7 and September 10 of 2001.

"Thriller": the video that was pretty much on an instant loop on MTV when it came out in 1983. In fact, when we talked to original MTV veejay Mark Goodman last month, he noted, "When we first started airing the full length Michael Jackson 'Thriller' video we used to play it like every 20 minutes. At least that’s the way it seemed."

Here he is doing an interview at his family's Hayvenhurst home in the mid-'80s:
