This week's dismal Junetober weather might not be fostering thoughts of summer fun, but take heart; sooner or later the sun will return to boil us o'er our beloved blacktop, and when it does the new Bushwick Beach Bus will be waiting to take you to the Rockaways. Brought to you by Bushwick's trusty Pearl's Social & Billy Club and a bargain at $6 each way, the bus will shuttle zinc-nosed Brooklynites between Bushwick and the Rockaway beaches, with stops at both Rippers on 86th Street and Fort Tilden. The coastal caravan will make its first trips this Saturday, starting at 10 a.m. Just remember kids, no sex in the ocean.

Rides to the Rockaways will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays and run until 3 p.m.—after that, regular return shuttles will begin carting you and your pals back to Bushwick. According to Bushwick Daily, the bus will also feature cold brew coffee and tea from Strangeways, and pre-ride breakfast burritos from Stan's Cafecito will be waiting for you at the pick-up site. Pearl's is also apparently doing everyone a solid and selling beer for your empty, awaiting coolers.

No online ticketing system has been set up just yet, but an email to with your name, party size, and desired date and time will (hopefully) guarantee you a spot. With a round-trip price equal to that of the NYC Beach Bus, this newest Rockaway shuttle seems like an appealing option for Jefftownians who can't wait to get their weekend bronze on.
